  • The landowner remains legally responsible for the fire at all times, including any damage, injury or loss caused by it, in terms of the National Veld and Forest Fire Act (Act 101 of 1998).
  • The permit is valid only for the dates, times and conditions printed on it and may be suspended or withdrawn at any time.
  • No burning may take place when the Fire Danger Index is Orange or Red, during high winds, or outside the permitted hours.
  • Adequate firebreaks, water and suppression resources, and sufficient personnel must be present on site for the full duration of the burn and until the fire is fully extinguished.
  • All immediate neighbours listed in this application must be notified before the burn takes place.
  • Cape Winelands Fire Services must be notified before ignition and once the burn is completed.
  • Costs arising from a non-compliant or escaped burn may be recovered from the landowner in full.
